Taste of Alpha - April 2019

You are invited to join church and ministry leaders from around Houston at a Taste of Alpha at MDPC. Taste of Alpha is a one-night event for you and others from your team to experience Alpha, to see what Alpha is about, what happens on an Alpha night, and what guests can expect when they give it a try. Taste of Alpha is about sharing Alpha with you and exploring how Alpha could be used in your context to reach more people in Houston with the love of God in Jesus.

Alpha is helping MDPC to embrace the Great Commission more fully and to partner with God to seek and save the lost. Just a year in to running Alpha, we're excited about how God has moved Alpha guests toward Jesus, and how, through their stories, our church has become more interested in sharing their faith with their family and friends. That's why we want to share Alpha with you.

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions taking guests through a journey over several weeks to explore faith in Jesus for themselves. Alpha is especially designed for those who would not call themselves Christians or are not regular church-goers.

Each session of Alpha includes food, a short video on a topic of the Christian faith, and discussion in smaller groups. During the discussion, guests are invited to share what they believe about faith, life, and meaning. No question is off limits, and no belief is out of bounds.

Alpha has proved itself over the last 30 years to be an effective tool for sharing Jesus with those who don't know him and for generating evangelistic momentum that can propel churches in their mission. A recent, world-wide study of Alpha through Barna revealed 85% of non-Christians who finish an Alpha course self-identify as followers of Jesus at the end of the course.
