Crisis Training: The Church's Role in Healing Man-Made and Natural Disaster

Are you prepared to help your neighbor?

Every day, man-made and natural disasters happen across our country. The church has a unique opportunity to help heal trauma in their communities. Unfortunately, few churches are prepared to handle traumatic events in their community, especially the long-term recovery needs following man-made and natural disasters. During this four hour training, you will learn about trauma, including practical ways to respond and prevent PTSD from occurring. Participants will learn about the stages of disaster and how to respond in each stage, as well as connections with trauma and other issues, including addictions, family crisis, and abuse. Very practical skills will be taught and resources provided to help participants learn how to appropriately respond to traumatic events.

This training is free and open to anyone in our community who wants to gain some extra skills to love their neighbors and communities after something tragic happens.

The training is facilitated by Michele Louviere, LMFT, and Michelle Borquez. Michele was the Clinical Director for Celebration Hope Center, which is the Christian counseling center of Celebration Church’s non-profit, Healing Hearts for Community Development, located in Metairie, Louisiana.

We would love for you to join us!
